How to Cook Jackfruit Salad

JACKFRUIT SALAD



Jackfruit is a tropical fruit in the Philippines also known as (NANGKA), anywhere you can find it. Ripe jackfruit is sweet most Pilipino love to eat this fruit. We are going to use unripe jackfruit in cooking nangka salad. Here is the procedure and the things we need in cooking nangka salad.



INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 kilo unripe nangka (jackfruit) peeled and slice into small piece
  • 1 cup coconut milk, add vinegar to coconut milk extract
  • 1 tablespoon chopped ginger
  • 5 pieces medium onions (diced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 pinch ground white pepper
  • 1/4 cup vinegar (to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • salt according to your taste

STEPS:

1. Cook nangka in water until tender. Remove from water and drain, remove the seeds, separate strands and set aside.

2. Strain coconut milk and pour into a bowl.

3. Add ginger, onion and garlic. Mix well.

4. Add the cook nangka. Mix and blend thoroughly. Season with white pepper, vinegar,sugar and salt. Taste it according to your taste preference.




TIPS:

You can also boil your salad before serving, because some of us wanted to heat the coconut milk first. So it depend on our preference when it comes to cooking. You add or subtract our ingredients that is the secret in cooking. We don't have to depend on the cookbook because we make it even better.
